Springfest is a Success!
By Kiki Park | June 11, 2007

So where could students see fellow classmates and faculty Sumo wrestling, jungle bouncing and getting dunked in a water tank all while enjoying a made-to order lunch by Chef Rost? You guessed it – the 2007 Springfest.
A great turnout showed up for the Parenting Student Club dunk tank with local celebrities as well as free henna tattoos and gift certificates and tee shirts from Planet Beach Tanning Salon and Spa. Roberto the Magnificent performed to his many adoring fans, cracking jokes and juggling strange objects and doing card tricks.
The Arts and Lectures committee hosted a Pie eating contest and winner Suki Bourquin of our very own Polaris, took home the prize. Watermelon eating contests and “Powder your face” were huge hits. The audience jeered and cheered for those taking part in the game “Roxanne,” where students stuff marshmallows and soda in their mouths every time the Police sing “Roxanne” in the popular hit song. The winner, a Phi Theta Kappa member managed to stuff 17 marshmallows in his mouth! What a feat!
Following tradition, students participated in an “experiment” with water balloons, which ended up being a wet event for everyone in the area.
Kevin Christopher and the Arts and Lectures Committee made Springfest possible this year to help relieve students of pre-finals stress thanks to hours of planning. They hope to put on a bigger show next year and very much look forward to similar morale, festivities and student participation for the Welcome Back Fall BBQ.

I forgot to mention this when I got them posted, but I’ve got a bunch of pics from Springfest [in this Flickr photoset][1].
